Module PSYCHOLOGY OF DESIGN & INNOVATION

Module code: PD617
Credits: 5
Semester: 2
Department: DESIGN INNOVATION
International: No
Coordinator: Dr Mary Galvin (DESIGN INNOVATION)
Overview Overview

This module combines both traditional lecture-based delivery and more participatory classroom learning. It explores psychological concepts that are of particular relevance to design innovation, introducing theories from and applications of cognitive, social, environmental, organisational and behavioural psychology. It will give students an understanding of how people think and behave, to inform the design of innovative responses that can bring about sustainable change in users, and private and public sector organisations. While this is a standalone module, it complements the various modules offered on the MSc by looking at the design innovation process through a psychological lens. The content of the course will be influenced by current societal and industrial trends.
