	Overview
	In this module product design students must compile a proposal for an original design project resulting in their own brief and statement of design intent. The proposal will be broken into 3 key areas, 1. Business Case 2. Feasibility Report 3. User Investigation, identifying and validating project relevance supported by primary and secondary research. This module will demand skills in design, user research, business and marketing which students have gained from the previous 3 years of the degree. Through project based learning the students will ascertain academic rigour, project management and planning competence by taking an initial idea, validating its relevance, and preparing a comprehensive plan and design proposal.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Demonstrate appropriate management skills, both project and personal, in the execution of the project including time management and project planning in order to complete the business plan by a given deadline Develop and a comprehensive design brief from which novel, innovative and realisable viable concepts can be generated. Identify and validate a new product opportunity. Undertake appropriate research and analyse this research and communicate the results effectively into the project. Demonstrate competent communication skills and communicate detailed ideas clearly in activities including the project report, meetings, oral presentations, presentation boards, prototype and to a third party at the graduate show Develop and improve personal skills to undertake new challenges posed by their project. Develop the importance of design academic research
