An introduction to key issues and concepts about popular music.
The module will consider the production, reception, and culture of popular music, as well as 'the music itself.
A focus of the module will be on the critical evaluation of significant styles and recordings.
A core section of the module will focus on developments in rock music in the twentieth century, although other forms of popular music will be included.
The module aims to develop a musicological approach to popular music.
