• Read a figured bass exercise.
• Read a short score in 3 or 4 parts incorporating treble, alto and bass clefs
• Improvise chordal harmony to a short melody
• Transpose a short melody at sight
• Play a number of chord progressions in any key

• 20 Seminar hours

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Penalties: Non-attendance without mitigating circumstances will result in a proportionate deduction from the overall module mark. See the Undergraduate Handbook of the Department of Music for further details.

• Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes
• Continuous assessment marks are carried forward to the autumn. Autumn Supplemental Examination Session will be capped at 40% in the absence of fully proven mitigating circumstances.

• Demonstration of Grade 5 ABRSM or equivalent keyboard attainment, and satisfactory completion of MU253 or MU254

• Not available to students taking MU360 Ensemble Performance III or MU359 Basic Keyboard Skills.
