This module will introduce the studio to the students and provide the basic information needed to safely handle the studio equipment. In addition, foundation topics on recording will be covered, to provide the students with the basic skills necessary to use the recording studio. Topics include: studio layout, basic audio theory, mixers, microphones and recording. Students will be assessed by regular assignments and a final practical project. In the second semester, the module will cover more advanced aspects of studio practice, recording techniques and production. Topics will include location recording, multitrack and overdubbing, mixing routines, mastering, etc.
