This module introduces students to fundamental skills relating to audio. Acoustics and psychoacoustics are considered alongside critical listening skills; a component of the module, in which audio software is explored, allows for practical applications of the theoretical components. Key concerns of the module include:

- study of the physiology of hearing, auditive perception, acoustics of spaces and musical instruments
- an improved ability to express ideas relating to audio
- critical listening skills
- practical use of audio software
