On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• analyse tonal music including modulation and ornamentation
• construct cadences in SATB format
• perform a short recital at post-Grade 6 standard(only applicable to students taking the first-study instrument/voice strand)
• perform technical studies, scales, and arpeggios as relevant to their instrument/voice of at least Grade 7 standard (only applicable to students taking the first-study instrument/voice strand)
• demonstrate basic techniques in harmonisation, transposition , and improvisation at the keyboard (only applicable to students taking the group piano lessons strand).
• adopt a self-critical approach towards their own performance

• 12 lecture hours, approved ensemble membership as designated by Department, individual first study or group piano lessons
