Module Objective: To further develop the student's understanding of group theory. Group actions, orbit stabilizer theorem. Sylow’s theorem, p-groups. Semi-direct products. Soluble groups. Simplicity of A_n for n>4. One additional topic, which might be selected from: Nilpotent groups; Linear groups; Free groups, generators and relations; Jordan-Holder theorem.
