Module TEACHING SKILLS IN BUSINESS

Module code: MN814
Credits: 5
Semester: Year-Long
Department: BUSINESS
International: No
Overview Overview

Teaching is an essential part of a faculty members’ professional activities and professional identities. To build a sustainable career in a competitive academic job market, PhD graduates may need to provide evidence that goes beyond teaching experience and that demonstrates their continuous engagement in developing their teaching skills as well as their knowledge about teaching and learning more broadly.

Against this background, this module aims to provide an opportunity for PhD students from within the School of Business to develop their teaching skills in the specific context of business modules. In addition, the module provides an opportunity to develop an understanding of best practices in teaching business students in large and small class settings that can be applied in PhD students’ teaching support roles.

Students interested in taking this module are advised that they should – in consultation with their supervisors and other relevant faculty members – plan their portfolio of activities early in their PhD journey.
