Module SOCIALIZING RESEARCH

Module code: MN807
Credits: 5
Semester: Year-Long
Department: BUSINESS
International: No
Overview Overview

Finding effective ways of socializing research outputs to the relevant academic audiences is an essential part of the research process. In addition, the effective socialization and communication of research is an enabling factor for raising interest and obtaining meaningful feedback. The module supports PhD students in developing their capacity of socializing their own work, in developing their skills of being a constructive participant in the socialization process of othersí work, and in reflecting about the interaction between the two.

In this module, students will reflect upon different approaches to socializing and communicating research to academic audiences. These reflections are based on studentsí experiences made when attending a range of research seminars of the School of Business Research Seminar Series. Students will implement their reflections into a presentation of their own research (for example a chapter of their thesis or a peer-reviewed research paper) to an academic audience. Providing constructive and critical feedback when reviewing othersí work is an important skill of PhD students. Students will elaborate on this skill in interactive and non-interactive settings.
