On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Explain and critique the strategic importance of project management in the global competitive business environment.

Analyse and discuss the interaction between project management and other functional areas of business.

Discuss key terms, concepts and practices for planning, organising and controlling resources to improve quality, efficiency and costs of both product and service operations.

Examine and critically evaluate the role that quantitative techniques can play as a decision aiding tool, as well as their limitations.

Demonstrate and employ important workplace skills (e.g. co-operation, teamwork, meeting deadlines, problem solving, project management, presenting professional written and oral case study reports) in case study work.

Demonstrate the importance of being able to communicate the outcome of both qualitative and quantitative based analysis to management and functional employees in terms of implications and limitations.

Undertake and manage a management project.
