The field of business ethics addresses (1) how individuals engage with the practicalities of organisational life in the late capitalist era (2) how organisations work to meet their social, cultural and environmental responsibilities, and (3) how organisations work to ensure that they treat employees and customers in an ethical way. This module aims to introduce new business students to these concepts by building on the perspectives and theories of management theory, organisational behaviour, work psychology, and the various approaches which have emerged to inform the language of contemporary business ethics. These approaches include: business & society; corporate social responsibility; corporate citizenship; sustainability, etc.
As the module is introductory in nature it will introduce students to the fundamentals of business & society theory, ethical theories and moral psychology.
