• There are two primary modes of learning. The first consists of the work placement itself and preparation for it. The second mode consists of a series of seminars and workshops that are instructor-led and provide students with a framework for interpreting the work placement experience and project. This is a 30 ECTS course with a workload of 900 hours. This workload consists of 600 hours on the work placement itself, 24 hours of in-class seminars or workshops (which are ‘block’ delivered over four six-hour days), and 276 hours of independent learning and self-reflection activity.

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): 100% Continuous Assessment. Indicative outputs: based on reflective journal logs, placement project, poster, individual oral presentations and class participation. To pass the module, students must have successfully completed their School of Business-approved work placement of an appropriate length, and met the requirements of the placement tutorials .

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Penalties: Students are expected to attend all lectures, seminars, and workshops. Where attendance falls below 75%, a student is deemed to have not passed a module. Standard School of Business penalties apply for late submission of assignments; 10% is deducted for each 24 hours (or part thereof) that an assignment is submitted after the official submission deadline. Personal exceptional circumstances policy of the School of Business and University may apply.

• If a student does not pass this module, it may not be possible for them to repeat the experiential activities required to achieve the learning outcomes. Consequently, students who do not pass this module will be required by the Programme Director to submit an alternative assessment, or undertake an alternative module in the subsequent academic year.

• Students must be registered for the full time Master's programme, and have successfully completed MI6272 and achieved a result of 65% or more in this module. Entry to the Placement Project is competitive and students must also complete and pass an interview with the employer before commencing the Placement Project.
