This module will trace the changing role of the user and the impact of digital technologies on human computer interaction. Furthermore this module will outline the field of interaction design and students will examine good and bad practice within the context of current HCI theoretical frameworks towards the goal of becoming reflective practitioners. Cognition, usability principles and heuristics will be covered as well as the design cycle and the impact of the interface on users. Students will be expected to gain some understanding of the nature and limitations of human perception and cognition as it pertains to HCI.
