• share knowledge, understanding and best practice of the intersection of peace, religion and diplomacy
• critically analyse, assess and demonstrate an awareness of the impact of actions and responses to complex international issues as well as the behaviour of actors in the escalation and de-escalation of conflict
• assess significant developments in international diplomacy, foreign policy and what it is like to be a diplomat
• demonstrate the conflicting dynamics that shape local, international and religious actors and describe in detail the importance of being proactive in peacebuilding
• evaluate and understand how different actors engage in partnerships for peace and discuss enrichment opportunities and whole of society initiatives through case studies
• examine and identify different forms of conscience based arguments and their roots in religion
• demonstrate global concerns and what role religion and religious actors play in defining today’s world
• understand relationship building in diverse complex environments, peacebuilding and crisis prevention

• The course provides opportunities for learners to achieve and demonstrate the following learning. Successful learners will have: In depth Knowledge and Understanding of: • the role of peace, religion and diplomacy within international conflict resolution. • different concepts/ competing definitions of religion, the origins of diplomacy, theoretical, historical and empirical analysis for a deeper comprehension and perspective on today’s world • the role of international organisations, UN, EU, etc. multilateralism in the 21st century and the need for diplomacy at an international level • perspectives of faith based actors in crisis prevention, alternative approaches to religiously based involvement in restorative justice, reconciliation and peacebuilding initiatives • a whole of society approach to peacebuilding, inclusivity, solidarity, dialogue and justice in terms of reframing the agenda of diplomacy and international affairs
