On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Demonstrate the integration of knowledge and practice of the separation mediation process including processes such as screening, intake, managing budgetary information and assets, option development and negotiation, mediating parenting, drafting family mediation agreements.

Apply theories of grief and loss to mediation practice and develop knowledge and ability in working with these processes in family mediation.

Recognise and manage abuse issues in family mediation.

Discuss and debate relevant Family Law and Pension Legislation as it applies to couples separating.

Analyse family conflict situations and design relevant processes for intervention.

Demonstrate knowledge of the research and debates on the needs of children in marital separation.
