	Overview
	This module equips students with the core concepts, methods and skills of restorative practice. Students new to the practice are provided with the opportunity to learn about restorative methodology and experienced practitioners have the opportunity to review and refresh their practice. The module addresses the philosophy of restorative practice and the range of contexts in which it can be applied. It also provides the methods and skills of process engagement, facilitation and follow-up. This module is delivered by staff of the Faculty of Social Science at the University of Ulster and includes a two day experiential visit to Belfast.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Analyse & discuss the philosophy of Restorative Practice. Critically analyse the core concepts, methods and skills of restorative practice. Demonstrate ability to engage in and facilitate the Restorative Practice process, including key practices such as empathy, listening, explaining and probing, clarifying, motivating, maintaining control, making agreements, providing support and holding individuals accountable. Analyse the difference between the various applications of restorative practices in criminal justice, child care, educational, community and organisational contexts.
