This module will introduce students to the theoretical and practical concepts underpinning quantitative and qualitative research methods. In doing so, it will provide students with the skills required to prepare a research proposal;conduct a literature review; complete an application for ethical approval;select and/or develop data collection tools;conduct data analysis;and disseminate findings. This module utilises lecture-style presentation, video content, guest speakersand practicalcomputer-basedworkshops.

Module Content:Unit 1: An introduction to research.Unit 2: Designing research.Unit 3: Conducting a literature review.Unit 4: Research ethics.Unit 5: Quantitative analysis(SPSS data entry; SPSS data coding; t-tests; correlations).Unit 6: Qualitative analysis.Unit 7:Mixed methodsresearch.
