	Overview
	Students will undertake the research and writing of a dissertation (20,000 wrods including footnotes) on a topic of their choice. Students will be assigned a supervisor whom they will meet with during the semester to discuss dissertation topics, avenues of research and supervisors will give advice as to the progress of the work. Any aspect of this module may be changed in any given academic year, subject to the discretion of the module lecturer.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Demonstrate competence and skills necessary to complete and defend an appropriate research proposal. Demonstrate nuanced exploration of the research question and completion of a thorough literature review. Analyse academic literature and draw appropriate conclusions based on the evidence. Demonstrate competence to produce a coherent, erudite dissertation supported by strong evidence and a thorough analysis.
