This module will explore contemporary economic and legal developments which are shaping financial regulation and supervision in Ireland. It will analyse the role of the financial and sovereign debt crisis in precipitating EU reform and will identify the relevance of these changes for banking and financial market supervision and regulation in Ireland. It will also identify recent legislative development in the area of EU consumer law which are relevant to the provision of retail financial services.
Any aspect of this module may be changed in any given academic year, subject to the discretion of the module lecturer.
