This module provides students with an introduction to the complex interface between mental health and criminal justice. Students who take this module will explore developments in this area from an historical perspective and delve into key contemporary debates around ‘care’ versus ‘control’ and ‘treatment’ versus ‘security’.
The module will explore such areas as personality disorder and the criminal justice system, neurodiversity and the criminal justice system, and therapeutic jurisprudence.
