This module seeks to introduce students to Irish constitutional law. We will examine the core principles of Irish constitutional law, with an emphasis on the powers and functions of the organs and agencies that constitute State power.
Students will examine topics including: the doctrine of separation of powers focusing on the roles and functions of the legislature, judiciary, and executive organs of the State, constitutional interpretation, the principles governing constitutional litigation, international relations, as well as reform and amendment.
Any aspect of this module may be changed in any given academic year, subject to the discretion of the module lecturer.
