Students will be able to gain a thorough understanding of the foundations of tortious liability. They will be able to give an account of the development of tort law which places it in its historical context and distinguishes it from contract and criminal law. Students will learn the essential elements of the torts of negligence, occupier’s liability, product liability and nervous shock. They will also be able to advise on the appropriateness of different remedies depending on the case at hand.

Any aspect of this module may be changed in any given academic year, subject to the discretion of the module lecturer.

Sources of Contract Law

Formation: Offer, Acceptance, Certainty, Intention to Create Legal Relations, Consideration, Promissory Estoppel

Enforceability: Privity, Electronic Contracts, Capacity

Interpretation of a Contract

Construction of Contracts
