Understanding the concept and meaning of local history and recognising the central themes and challenges that historians face. Using primary and secondary sources whilst being conscious of the importance of context in interpretation of source materials. Identifying repositories of interest for the completion of a local history research project and compiling a short bibliography of relevant secondary sources in order to conduct a literature review of the current academic discussion of local history.

Students should not register for LS01C if they have previously successfully completed the Certificate in Local History programme.
