This module provides learners with an informed overview of the key issues around global health and development;
Including an introduction to current perspectives on the broad and interconnecting causes, consequences and policy responses to some of the world’s health problems.
During this module, participants will be provided with an outline of major global health problems as well as the social, economic, biomedical and environmental determinants of health in low-income countries;
Will examine the vulnerabilities experienced by communities that lead to ill-health;
Be introduced to some of the fundamental issues around the epidemiology of diseases such as Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and malaria;
Will become familiar with key global health organisations and related architecture and understand how global and national policy environments function;
Will understand in more detail some key health issues including sexual reproductive health, violence against women, emergency and humanitarian responses and human resources for health.
Please Note: This module is delivered in a classroom based setting only and is not currently available to take via the Online/ Distance study mode.
