The aim of Research Methods is to provide an integrated training in methods appropriate for primary research in development.
Throughout this module, participants will be facilitated to engage with debates in social research;
Investigate various research techniques and supported to design and defend a research proposal within learners’ chosen specialist area.
Module content will include exposure to a range of research approaches and methodologies;
Exploration of tools for qualitative and quantitative information collection;
Strategies for design of sampling strategies; and methods such as case study, survey, discourse analysis, interview and focus group discussion.
Participatory approaches to research will be explored as will data analysis and other research related areas (e.g. conducting a literature review, guidance of writing a thesis etc).
This module is available in both a classroom setting and as an online/distance option.
