On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: identify different types of migrants (such as asylum-seekers, refugees, stateless people, undocumented, 'boat' people, environmental refugees and Internally Displaced People (IDPs), and the international bodies related to them (UNHCR., IOM, GMDF).

As well as understand the relevance/impact of political decisions and laws on these migrants.

They will understand the impact of migration on the Global South and engage in the debates around brain drain and brain gain in the North.

They will develop critical skills in relation to Migration rhetoric, current cultural debates and form their own opinions about the economic and cultural impacts of migration flows on development.
