This foundation module provides an assessment of early medieval Irish culture and society. A general understanding of the cultural matrix of early Ireland will be provided through a series of case studies, investigating the social and cultural heritage of some of our most important ecclesiastical and secular sites. Field experiences to key ecclesiastical sites, such as, Glendalough, and cultural heritage institutions, will be central to this discussion.
Note: Students taking the Certificate in Irish Cultural Heritage in Semester 1, must take ID001 or ID012 as the core module.
