	Overview
	To develop students� understanding of and critical engagement with current trends, methodological challenges, and innovations in scholarship in the discipline (during the third year of research). Attendance at the History Department's Research Seminar (See History Postgraduate Handbook for details.) Students must attend all specified obligatory meetings of the Seminar and another seven over the course of the academic year.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: deepened their independent critical engagement with current trends, historiographical and methodological challenges and innovations in scholarship in the discipline; practised active participation in research seminars through engaging in increasingly reflective discussion with speakers and peers; refined their professional presentation skills through ongoing critical observation of, and reflection on, the presentation styles of peers and invited speakers; developed their independent engagement in research as a collective and interdisciplinary exercise; developed basic skills in convening a University Research Seminar.
