• - recognize existing and emerging thematic fields in European history
• - distinguish different categories of historical research and discuss their respective analytical values in application to specific problems in European history .
• - critically scrutinise an existing body of research and
• - synthesize findings in the shape of presentations and in-class discussions
• - reflect, in a historiographical essay on the process of production of historical knowledge and extrapolate, considering potential transfer for own project.

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): In-class presentations (30%), active participation in class (20%) and a historiographical essay of 5,000 words (50%).

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Penalties: No late material accepted unless medical or other compelling reasons are established in writing. The expectation is for full attendance by students. Explanation in writing is required in every case of absence. The project/essay of a candidate who has missed more than 50% of classes will not be eligible for assessment under any circumstances.
