This module is intended to equip candidates to design and implement systems and procedures for the intellectual control of records, regardless of age, provenance, media or format, applying best practice principles and standards (both national and international). It aims to provide candidates with an understanding of the principles underpinning the theory and practice of archival arrangement and description in accordance with ISAD(G), International Council on Archives, General International Standard Archival Description (2nd ed., Ottawa, 2000). It will assist candidate to develop the skills to implement these principles and practices in contemporary online settings through the production of encoded archival finding aids.
