This module focuses on one historiographic method in great detail, including the genesis of that particular method, its evolution over time and its deployment within specific historical circumstances. The module requires each student to conduct a comparative analysis of key issues and discuss their findings in class, gradually building up knowledge of the issue over the course of the semester. Finally, each participant is required to critique both the advantages and limitations of the overall historiographic method in an essay submitted at the end of the semester, providing examples from our course of study.
