	This optional module targets a specific cutting-edge theme of European History, informed by the actual research of the convenor. Together, students explore timely debates in the secondary literature and then develop an historiographic interpretation, integrating their own analysis of primary sources into a focussed and original contribution.

This optional module targets a specific cutting-edge theme of European History, informed by the actual research of the convenor. Together, students explore timely debates in the secondary literature and then develop an historiographic interpretation, integrating their own analysis of primary sources into a focussed and original contribution.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: have assimilated a comprehensive knowledge of a specific historical topic have assimilated an overview of the pertinent secondary literature have assimilated specific knowledge of relevant primary sources critically analyse historical data in reference to a broader field have an appreciation of the historical interpretation of information to an advanced level of abstraction have a variety of intermediary skills required to engage in an extended research project (e.g. the MA thesis).
