On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Identify and analyse a number of issues encompassing political, social and/or economic comparisons between Ireland and at least one other country in the modern period

Develop an appreciation for comparative history through analysis of a number of different issues as they affected Ireland and at least one other country during the modern period

Use guided reading lists to access a range of relevant source material to compose at least one mid-length analysis of an approved topic on the course

Expand their contextual knowledge of topics relevant to the course through working in a number of source repositories
