Credits: 5
Semester: 1
Quota: 28
Department: HISTORY

Overview Overview

This module will explore the history of Africans and African communities in Britain and Ireland from the sixteenth century to the second half of the twentieth century. It will combine contextual discussion with a case study approach, exploring and contextualising the lives of individual Africans or people of African ancestry. In so doing it will highlight the ways in which 'big' historical processes and dynamics - slavery, empire, migration and decolonization - are experienced at the level of individual lives.
