• Understand inclusive nature of the internet and critically appreciate resource available to historians online
• Identify primary and secondary sources in their textual and visual appearances
• Successfully employ various search strategies for search engines, catalogues and databases online
• Correctly reference primary and secondary sources published online
• Distinguish tools for a multi-dimensional description of visual sources including films
• Practise basic historic skills acquired in HY 111 and operate with new repositories and types of sources for historical research

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): Series of assignments during semester 2 which may include an in-class test.

• Penalties: No late material accepted unless medical or other compelling reasons are established in writing. The expectation is for full attendance by students. Explanation in writing is required in every case of absence from tutorials. The work of a candidate who has missed more than 50% of tutorials will not be eligible for assessment under any circumstances.
