• Identify primary sources for historical research
• Understand basic key terms and definitions in historical research
• Complete short projects in an appropriate written format, e.g. report, essay, etc.
• Practise basic referencing skills according to departmental conventions
• Develop an appreciation of the range of tools and repositories available to the historian
• Assume responsibility for group transfer of knowledge by contributing to small group tutorial sessions

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): Total Marks: 100%. Series of projects during semester 1, including essay of approximately 2000 words

• Penalties: No late material accepted unless medical or other compelling reasons are established in writing. The expectation is for full attendance by students. Explanation in writing is required in every case of absence from tutorials. The work of a candidate who has missed more than 50% of tutorials will not be eligible for assessment under any circumstances.
