On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Demonstrate an ability to critically engage in debates concerning the global processes underpinning uneven patterns of social and economic development.

Demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of migration flows and their impact on individuals and localities, the development impacts of increasingly complex global production networks, and the function and position of cities in the flows of migrants, goods, services and finance.

Demonstrate an awareness of the range of methods and research tools relevant to the study of globalization and development.

Develop a quality research design and competently apply a select number of research methods and tools from a range that includes, amongst others: interviewing; discourse analysis; statistics and participatory research.

Compose academic articles and policy reports for organizations operating in relevant fields of social and economic development at the local, regional national and international level.
