On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• Analyse processes of spatially-uneven development
• Describe and compare traditional and recent regional development and theories
• Describe and critically discuss different types of regional development policies and interventions
• Explain the crucial role of local government and governance for regional development and discuss different governance arrangements
• Analyze the evolution of regional development problems, processes and policies in Ireland with specific attention to the current National Spatial Strategy.
• Demonstrate the ability to write a report containing a critical analysis of policy or other sectoral developments

Only those students who have officially registered to repeat/resit their module in the autumn will be allowed to submit supplemental continuous assessment.
