	Overview
	The Graduate Skills module GST15: Ethics & Academic Practice for Research Students is designed to provide social science research students with the skill set to contextualise research ethics in a university setting, enhance their understanding of the principles of research practice and integrity and make a successful ethics application to the Maynooth University Ethics Committee. Topics include ethics, confidentiality, copyright, freedom of information in the research and writing process, and data protection and storage requirements.

Overview

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Demonstrate best practice in completing an ethics protocol; Articulate, assess and critically evaluate the ethical issues arising in research; Identify copyright, data protection and data storage requirements with regard to their research; Successfully complete a research submission for ethical approval.
