Managed by the Graduate Studies Office, GST1: Professional Development & Employability is a graduate skills module that offers a variety of professional skills sessions to support the development of the early career researcher. Research students may opt to attend sessions on an individual basis, or register for the module and attend a minimum of six sessions to attain 5 ECTS credits. Students can build up the five credits over more than one year of their research studies. Please note that to obtain credit for this module, students must produce and submit a learning diary to their supervisor. See below for further details.
Research students who wish to register for GST1: Professional Development & Employability must do so via their Student Web Portal. Students must register, via an online form, for the specific workshop(s) they wish to attend, whether or not they are registered for the module. Please visit www.maynoothuniversity.ie/rsdp for a list of the GST1 workshops for 2018-19 and the registration form. Please submit a separate form for each workshop you plan on attending. Attendance sheets will be circulated in each session and should be signed by all present.
Research students who wish to receive credit for GST1 must attend a minimum of six sessions and produce and submit a learning diary. The learning diary should contain an entry for each session the student attends and should demonstrate the learning that has taken place in each session, as well as addressing how the content relates to/enables the students research and/or career opportunities. Students must then submit their learning diary to their supervisor. If the supervisor considers the content of the learning diary to be satisfactory, they should email melissa.dunne@mu.ie to confirm their satisfaction. The student will then be awarded 5 credits for the module.
