GST1 Graduate Skills Module
Students are advised not to register for this module unless they intend to take 6 events and complete a reflective diary illustrative of reflective competence on the events attending which will be approved by the Departmental Research Student Progress Committee. However, students are welcome to any individual session if they so wish.

Module Objective
The aim of this module is to enhance the participants understanding of their current personal and professional competence profile. The module aims to assist the participant to work in a coherent and structured way to develop these skills over the course of the doctoral programme. The module is essentially skills and competencies based and will the form of a series of workshops (chosen by the student and supervisors)

Working with a Supervisor
Personal Effectiveness & Leadership Skills for Researchers:
Careers in Academia and Research: Half-day workshop preparing student researchers for their next step as an early career researcher.
Preparing for the Workplace: Preparing for a career outside of research including preparing a CV, interview techniques, preparing for the workplace.
Preparing to Submit a Thesis (including e-thesis submission)
ICT Skills (drop in sessions)
Academic Integrity (Ethics, Data Protection etc)
