This module will offer an introduction to some of the fundamental approaches to linguistics, such as cross-cultural semantics, contrastive linguistics, phonetics, pragma-linguistics, and socio-linguistics. Students will have the opportunity to explore language both as a system of signs with immanent rules and in its cultural context. This module will enable students to improve their German language skills by helping them to understand how the German language works.
