Overview Overview

This module helps students to further enhance their German, building and extending knowledge and skills acquired thus far. It continues to sensitise students to the cultures and societies of the German-speaking world and further deepens their knowledge and understanding of such through various media. Students will engage in translation, constructing complex and compelling arguments (oral and written), and writing longer texts such as opinion and overview pieces. The module aims to further build confidence and hone accuracy when using the language in a broad range of situations.
The module is aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages at level C1, where the emphasis is on achieving an advanced level of communication in all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). A student achieving an overall mark of 60% or higher in this module will have demonstrated linguistic competence commensurate with CEFR level C1.1.
