German is an important language in the world of business, economics and finance, and this module will be of particular interest to students with an advanced knowledge of German who are thinking of moving into a career in this area. It will focus on perfecting the language skills appropriate for a German-language business environment and practising business communication. Skills to be covered include conducting business meetings and negotiations in German; communicating and expressing opinions about business-related topics in person and on the phone; reading and writing business documents such as reports and analyses in German. The module will also offer insights into the structure of German companies, the working environment in the German-speaking countries and cultural differences in the workplace.
