	Overview
	Grammar, translation, and general language exercises, conversation. Although all students taking this module will cover the same course and take the same exam/s, students will be internally streamed in accordance with their linguistic competence. This module enables students to achieve a linguistic competence commensurate with CEFR level B2.1. A student achieving an overall mark of 60% or higher in this module will have demonstrated linguistic competence commensurate with CEFR level B2.1.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Recognise a wide range of tenses and some complex grammatical structures and employ them to produce meaningful and correct German sentences. Interpret and apply new vocabulary introduced in class. Converse in German with some degree of fluency about topical issues of relevance to their lives � cultural diversity, students� concerns, social problems etc. Translate simple English texts on topics related to those dealt with in class to produce a correct and coherent German text.

Assessment

	Autumn Supplementals/Resits
	An oral examination must be taken in the Autumn if a student has failed the module in the previous session, even if the student previously passed the oral examination. Continuous Assessment marks are carried forward to the Autumn. University scheduled written examination (Autumn): 90 minutes
