On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Present a structured exposé (orally) on a selected literary passage, paying attention to content, tone and narrative techniques (in the passage).

Carry out individual research on a topic chosen for an extended essay.

Analyse the key issues at stake in one's chosen research topic, incorporating both primary and secondary sources into the body of the essay.

Produce a well-structured, well-researched and well-referenced piece of written work (3,000 words), displaying evidence of personal insight.

Demonstrate awareness of the core skills required in research.
