The aim of this module is to prepare students for the Year Abroad linguistically and interculturally, and to assist them in developing their own learning strategies in academic, linguistic and cultural terms. This will be done through a variety of activities, teaching and presentations. Additionally, students will be exposed to the lived experiences from Final Year students who have spent a year studying, teaching or on placement in a French-speaking country. Skills taught will include writing skills for documentation, for academic study and the social register. Institutions in the French-speaking countries, social and political structures, student life and culture and cultural specificities will be studied in class and through exercises.
