	Overview
	The age of Louis XIV is often referred to as the Golden Age of French literature. Three representative texts from this period are studied in this course with the objective of understanding the aesthetics, mythopoetics and social context of French classical literature.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Close reading of early modern French literary texts. Understanding the aesthetics and mythopoetics of these texts. Interface of text and society in early modern France. Development of oral presentation skills in French for academic purposes. Consolidation of essay writing skills in either English or French.
