This module introduces students to software that is widely used across the Financial industry. It is run as an intensive two-week course over the Summer term. Students will learn about Relational Database Management Systems to search and sort databases and produce user-friendly output. Students will also learn to code using a modern, state-of-the-art statistical software package (such as R). Students will learn to manipulate and graphically present data, and analyse relationships between financial variables building on the statistical skills acquired on earlier taught modules. Real-world data from the Bloomberg terminals brings real-world relevance to the application of exercises. Familiarity with these essential software packages are designed to give students a head start in their early careers.
